With double-sided printing, a 3.7-centimetre LCD screen, borderless printing and a top printout speed of up to 33ppm in mono or up to 15ppm in colour, this is one machine that takes the hassle out of printing, copying and scanning. It also includes the latest in Wi-Fi connectivity, and with Epson’s patented Micro Piezo Heat-Free technology, you will enjoy lower energy consumption and fewer replacement parts, meaning this is one machine that really does lower your carbon footprint.

No tricky messy cartridge replacement

Thanks to its innovative ink tank system, you can wave goodbye to messy and cumbersome ink cartridge replacements. Epson has designed their EcoTank system to hold four colours; magenta, yellow, cyan, and black, and one set of ink bottles holds as much ink as 72 cartridges, allowing you to print as many as 7,500 pages in mono and 6,000 in colour*. Plus, you don’t have to worry about mixing the wrong inks when the time comes to fill up your Epson’s ink tanks, as Epson has that covered too, with their key-lock system that only allows the colour ink bottle to fit the correct tank.

Q. Was ideally looking for a Canon Pixma more compact stand alone ink tank printer for low running costs. Couldn t find anything that prints duplex double sided. So now looking at this one - bigger than I wanted as I don t really want copy and scan. However my question is we have an unstable wifi connection so I need to know I can always print even if the internet connection is down. Can I set up and use via USB connection and if so how easy is this? Thanks

The Epson EcoTank ET-2856 features USB connectivity as well as being wireless as standard, so you can connect the printer directly to a computer or laptop via a USB cable if required. An internet connection may be required to download and install any drivers or software on your computer or laptop, but after that you can connect to the printer using a USB cable if you don't have a stable wi-fi connection.

Q. Does the Epson ET-2856 copy and scan 2 sided duplex ?

The Epson EcoTank ET-2856 features a flatbed scanner only, so any double-sided documents would need to be scanned via a manual process to produce two-sided copies. Q. Does this printer takes 350 gsm please

Unfortunately the Epson EcoTank ET-2856 is only able to handle media up to 300gsm.

Q. If I buy the ET-2856 to run with my MacBook Air do I need any other equipment to start printing double-sided 32-page booklets? I will be printing 300 copies so do I need to buy extra ink?

The Epson EcoTank ET-2856 comes with 2 x Black Ink Bottles (7000 Pages) and CMY Ink Bottles (5200 Pages) as standard. However, some of the ink is used during the set-up process. So actual page counts may vary from these estimates. We do stock the Epson EcoTank ET-2856 + Ink Bottle Multipack which comes with an additional set of ink bottles: CMY (6K Pages) + Black (7.5K Pages).

Q. If I buy the ET-2856 I will connect it to a MacBook Air about 2015 vintage . Will I need a cable to do set up?

Cables are not required for set up, as the Epson EcoTank ET-2856 is wireless as standard, so it can be set up onto the same wireless network as your MacBook. If you do require a wired connection, the printer also features a USB 2.0 interface. There are drivers available to support Mac operating systems ranging 10.6 to 12 (Monterey).

Q. Does this printer print 5x7 photos regards Nigel.

Yes, the Epson supports 5 x 7 inch (13 x 18 cm) photo media. It also supports 10 x 15 cm, 9 x 13 cm, 13 x 20 cm and 20 x 25 cm photo sizes as standard.

Epson ET 2856 Review

I was looking for a printer that could be used for printing documents and photographs that wasn't going to be expensive to run. I settled on the Epson brand as they are known for printing photographs. You are advised to use the Epson printer app but if you can set it up manually. Having set it up and run it for a couple of week I am very pleased with the printer. The documents are crisp and clear and the photographs are good enough to hang on the wall. Having printed off ten A4 and a couple of dozen documents the ink levels have hardly dropped. Automatic double sided printing works well The external paper tray works very well. The printer is louder than other I've had but at least you know it is working. Printerland have been excellent to deal with and are well recommend. Thank you

Easy Setup and

I was replacing my very basic but excellent 10 year old Brother laser printer that was cheap as chips to run. My priorities were running costs, ease of setup and straightforward to use. The Epson 2856 is all of that and more. I called up Printerland and received excellent help in making a final decision. I used my iPhone to set it up... I was amazed it was so simple. It's had a lot of use in the month I've had it and although I think the laser will prove cheaper to run the ink is lasting out very well and I have used a lot of colour. Paying extra for a photo copier, double sided and colour printing was a good investment. Not yet used it for photos or scanning so can't comment. Next day delivery, ink supplied with an extra black, 3 year guarantee with Epson registration... overall I'm delighted.

Super Duper

A solid, well performing printer. Appreciate getting this version with Duplex printing. Print quality is great, on par with my older Canon Pixma, but scan quality is good but not super IMHO. That being said, for the money, you can't go wrong with this cleverly packaged unit. Well recommended.

Worth the money

After debating about the extra cost of double side printing - I'm so pleased I opted for this function. Delighted that I will no longer have to fiddle with cartridges. Worth every penny.

First class product and service

From placement of order to receipt of goods there was little over 24 hours. The 3 year warranty and extra bottle of black ink was already a deal breaker the exceptional delivery time was simply the icing on the cake.
