The MFC-2710DW is a mono (black toner) printer only and therefore wil print using only a black toner cartridge to achieve different shades of grey. If you purchase a colour printer with CMYK cartridges, grayscale and mono prints are achieved by combining black and colour cartridges.

The Brother MFC-L2710DW features a simplex 50 Sheet ADF, so unfortunately it can't scan double-sided documents automatically. However, you would be able to scan both sided of a document via a manual process if required.

The Brother MFC-L2710DW supports media types including Plain, Recycled, Bond and Envelopes up to 230gsm via the manual feed. As long as your media is under 230gsm, the printer should be able to support it via the manual feed.

We have messed up USB connections by keep taking things in/out ie mouse-printer-memory stick. We don't need both a toner and a cartridge do we? Just a cartridge will, we think be enough for us. We are worried about buying a printer and finding we can't use it as we have the wrong one or we can't set it up.
