The ADF will accept minimum sizes of 89 mm x 127 mm (Horizontal x Vertical) which is well within your requirements. It will duplex at these sizes too

Hi, Unfortunately the Epson WorkForce DS-1630 will not automatically feed documents with multiple paper sizes. The smallest paper size the Epson WorkForce DS-1630 will take is A4. Yes, you can scan till receipts via the scanner glass. Also, the ADF will curl the paper.
Unfortunately the Epson WorkForce DS-1630 will not compile scans using a mixture of flatbed and sheetfed documents.

Can this scanner run without a power source, i.e. with an internal battery like a lap top OR can it run off a USB connected to a lap top.

The Epson WorkForce DS-1630 is compatible with Mac operating systems OS X 10.6.8 and higher. There are also drivers available to download from the manufacturers website for latest Mac operating systems. You will also be able to connect the scanner to your MacBook via a USB 3.0 cable.
