Hi, Unfortunately you can't manually over-ride the scanner to scan odd size negatives. The Epson Perfection V550 Photo will only scan film correctly when placed inside the film holders. However we do recommend you looking at the Epson Perfection V800 Photo, which allows odd-sized film up to 8”x10” to be placed directly on the glass and scanned.

Unfortunately using a separate scanner and printer will usually need a manual process in the middle where you would need to send any scanned images to print. However, we would suggest looking at a Multifunction Printer which can scan and copy as this process would be made much easier.
