Higher quality HP Ink
As they have been specifically developed for use with this machine, this selection of HP PSC 1600 All-in-One Printer Ink Cartridges - 338 (black), 343 and 344 (Tri-colour) - in various capacity and multipack options offer the best quality ink, with more generic ink brands providing a higher rate of ink overspray and blurred lines, even when printing text-only documents using just black ink.
Genuine HP
With a page yield of up to 560 (14ml colour), 450 (11ml black) if you're likely to require a range of colours in your prints, it's more economical and efficient to go for the individual 338 (black) and 344 (tri-colour) cartridges. The official HP brand cartridges are specifically developed for use with HP printers and can be used up to 20% longer than ink in a generic brand cartridge.
Although genuine HP 338, 343 and 344 cartridges will need changing less often, they will be the simplest and easiest to change. Just open the cover and slide the old cartridge out. To install the new cartridge, simply remove the protective film then slide into the carriage slot with the copper contacts facing the printer, until it clicks. Then close the cover. Any damage caused to the HP PSC 1600 machine caused by struggling to fit generic brand cartridges could invalidate the printer's product warranty.
