Is my printer compatible with Mac OS 12?

The arrival of the latest macOS is always an exciting event. However, with all the new features and benefits of the newest version of macOS, compatibility issues can arise.

As the successor to macOS Big Sur, the release of macOS Monterey 12 brings with it a host of queries regarding printer compatibility. With information varying between brands and models, the following information will help you shed some light on your printer’s compatibility with Apple’s latest OS release.

Apple macOS Monterey 12 compatibility for Xerox users

The latest print drivers from Xerox provide support for the current release of macOS Monterey 12 and the preceding two versions of Mac OS (11.x and 10.15.x).

A comprehensive list of currently supported Xerox models for Mac OS12 is available to help users identify their current level of compatibility.

Apple macOS 12 Monterey compatibility for Epson users

Epson have pledged to deliver support for macOS Monterey 12 and are providing drivers and software updates for Epson products on an ongoing basis.

The latest Epson macOS 12 Monterey compatibility is available on a model-by-model basis directly from Epson support.

Apple macOS 12 Monterey compatibility for HP users

Similarly to Epson, HP are dedicated to ongoing support for macOS Monterey 12 with the vast majority of the current HP printer range providing compatibility with macOS Monterey 12 via two main types of print driver installation methods;

HP Smart app (recommended): HP Smart provides software and drivers that offer full printing solutions.

HP Easy Start: A guided printer installation that provides full feature or basic driver options for download. HP Easy Start will locate and install the latest software for your printer and then guide you through printer setup.

Brother currently offer macOS 12 support for most of the Brother model range

What About Apple AirPrint?

Apple AirPrint technology allows users to print directly from Apple devices, including Mac, iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, without the need to install an app, additional drivers or other software.

Most current printer models feature AirPrint capabilities as standard and with the arrival of macOS Monterey, Apple have expanded AirPrint support for the latest version of macOS.
