If you’re keen to upgrade the printer in your office, then you will be faced with the choice of purchasing either a laser, or inkjet printer.

While inkjet printers have previously been a popular choice, many modern offices are opting to use laser printers due to their long-term benefits.

This is why it is so important to investigate which would be best for your business and consider the functions you need – will you be printing more in mono or colour? Do you require high quality printing or is speed more of a priority?

If you’re not benefiting from your inkjet at present, here’s why you should consider upgrading to a laser printer:

They’re Faster

It is true that a handful of modern inkjet printers can reach 75ppm, but this is quite rare.

Laser printers are notoriously the quicker device of the two. This is incredibly useful in an office environment as it will mean that staff spend much less time hanging around waiting for the print outs to appear and more time getting on with work.

The average laser printer can reach speeds of around 40ppm, with some manufacturers producing models that can print much faster. For example, Xerox printers are renowned for their speed.

Traditional inkjets only reach around 30ppm at their quickest, and this is at low print coverage. Laser printers are a much better choice for high-demand offices, as their output speed remains consistent even with high-coverage documents.

Quality prints

If you usually require standard mono printing, then a laser is the ideal choice.
Laser printers produce small black text which is much cleaner and crisper than inkjets. This is because their method of printing does not allow ink to spread or bleed on the paper at all.

Samsung printers, like the ProXpress M3320ND, offer an exceptionally good quality print due as they feature a high resolution (dpi).

Larger capacity

Laser printers are generally built for commercial use and therefore can hold a lot of paper.

They are an excellent choice if you’re sharing a printer between a large department, as they can handle heavy usage and won’t constantly need refilling. This improves productivity and is certainly the most time-efficient option.

Inkjets can’t compare when it comes to capacity. One of the best Lexmark printers, in terms of capacity, is the MS817dn, which can hold up to 550 sheets at one time, perfect for busy periods in the office.

Cheaper to run

Laser printers do have a pricier initial cost, but they’re significantly cheaper to run.

Compared to ink, laser toner lasts longer, meaning that you can print more sheets per cartridge than you could with an inkjet. This is why laser printers are all round much more kind on your purse strings.

So there you have it. If you’re looking for a high quality printer that can handle demand, a laser printer could be just that you’re looking for!
