Warning Signs You May Need a New Printer
Last Updated on April 14, 2021 by Christian Ralph
Unfortunately, like most technology, printers don’t last forever.
Purchasing a new printer can be a big decision, so it’s understandable that you may try to put it off for as long as possible. However, if you want to maintain good quality print-outs, then at some point you will have to upgrade to a new device.
It can be hard to tell when your printer is simply having an off-day, or it’s simply doomsday. In order to make your decision a little easier, we have compiled a list of warning signs so you’ll know when your printer is on its last legs.
Read on to discover if you may need to start searching for new devices:
Smearing and bleeding
It is true that these are fairly common printer problems, and do not necessarily mean that your device is ceasing to work.
Smearing and bleeding can be caused by a number of issues, such as inserting paper incorrectly or a problem with your ink cartridges.
However, if you have swapped your consumables and the problem persists, then you may need to upgrade to a newer model.
If print-outs are important for your business, it may be a good idea to consider a high-quality laser Epson printer, for your next device. This is due to the fact that a laser printer will print using toner rather than ink, which reduces the chances of bleeding even more.
Excessive noise
It is completely normal for printers to make a small amount of noise when they are functioning.
However, if you have noticed that your device is making considerably more noise than usual, this can be a warning sign. Certain noises to look out for are gurgling and thumping, as these can indicate deep-rooted issues which can lead to printer malfunctions.
If your device is physically moving, this is a definite sign that it is time to begin looking for a new machine.
Consumables can be hard to find
As new printers are manufactured and put into stores for sale, the consumables that they take tend to change too.
A sign that your printer is becoming outdated and may need replacing, is that it is becoming incredibly difficult to find the parts you need to run your device.
If you are spending increasing amounts of time searching for replacement parts, and you are paying a higher price to purchase them, it could mean you are due for an upgrade.
Lack of functions
If you regularly scan, copy and print documents, but are still doing this using separate devices, then it is definitely time to consider a multifunction printer.
Manufacturers, such as Samsung, are producing devices which can provide each of these services all from one machine. This could be a great investment for you, as it will free up valuable office space, as well as save you money on energy bills and increase productivity in your office.
If your device is showing any of these signs, it could signal that you need to start considering a replacement device. For help choosing the correct printer for you feel free to get in touch with our expert team who will be more than happy to help.
